Mom and I have been having a pity party of sorts. It’s easy to find things to complain about and bemoan our living conditions and surroundings. Emily suggested we watch the choir on byu-tv instead of the official Mormon Tabernacle Choir website. It was amazing because we could actually watch it without all the buffering problems. We generally wait for 2 minutes for 30 seconds worth of recording.
Today the message from Lloyd Newell was about developing an attitude of gratitude similar to Elder Uchtdorf’s general conference message. Well we had shed a tear or two with songs like “Be Still My Soul”, “There’s a Place for Us”, and “Count Your Blessings instead of Sheep”
Right at the end of “Count Your Blessings instead of Sheep” the camera focuses exclusively on Emily and through tear stained eyes, I declared, “There’s one of our blessings” It was as though Heavenly Father was mindful of us specifically and mom said, “I take that as a sign”. Just to show you how much it lifted our spirits, we watched it two more times and recorded Emily’s cameo. It couldn’t have been more timely for the two of us.
This could definitely be a journal entry for our homecoming comments. Our spirits were lifted today and just wanted to share this bright spot with those we love.
Love, Mom and Dad
